Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 | SMEs, Top Tips, Working in a Startup with No Comments »

If you are applying for work in a startup (perhaps after reading my post - Being entrepreneurial without the risk: getting work in a startup), your CV will be essential when it comes to making that first impression. I say this because I have just spent the last two hours reviewing about 100 CVs for an internship we advertised at amuso.com, and seeing the standard of applications, I felt disheartened by how many applicants ignored the basic rules of writing a CV, let alone the lack of enthusiasm or entrepreneurial spirit shown. Entrepreneurs are time and cash poor, and the progress of their startup can swing in an instant if the right or wrong hire is made.

Asus eee PC for entrepreneurs on the go

Monday, March 31st, 2008 | Blogging, Making money online with No Comments »

I have recently been eyeing up a great little laptop which looks perfect for mobile web-based entrepreneurs, and trust me, as soon as I’ve made my money online, I’m investing in one of these little beauties. For anyone serious about making money online, staying connected is a must, and the Asus eee PC looks like the perfect gadget to do so. This micro-PC runs a simple Linux bases operating system for ease of use, a 4GB solid state hard drive, a 7″ screen and wireless connectivity, ensuring smooth web access wherever you may be. The best bit about the Asus though is its size: not much bigger than a hardback book, you can take this baby all over the place.

The word is that later this year Asus will be releasing a new version with built in GPS and a touchscreen.

Free subscription to Growing Business Magazine

Sunday, March 30th, 2008 | Inspirational websites, SMEs with No Comments »

Growing Business, one of the few ‘physical’ magazines out there for UK based entrepreneurs is offering a free annual subscription via its website. I have been a huge fan of this publication for a while now as it covers a wide range of topics relevant to entrepreneurs and startups, and regularly runs interviews with top entrepreneurs such as Stelios, Simon Woodroffe and Sir Alan Sugar. Even if you’re a blogger looking to make money online, the magazine is a great source of inspiration, and may inspire you to flex your entrepreneurial streak in the offline world.

To take advantage of this offer, visit the Growing business website at http://www.growingbusiness.co.uk/  and look out for their various banners posted around the homepage advertising the free subscription deal.
